We estimate our customers can achieve up to 600,000 cuts per boards if they follow our advise for pad maintenance and planning. All of our cutting pads are stock items to guarantee rapid delivery times & availability.
Pad Planing Services A frequent light resurfacing of the cutting pad is required in order to restore to an “as new” state and therefore producing quality clean cuts at a minimum penetration depth. This planing operation should be carried out when the cutting surface has become rough and uneven respectively or when the cutting result has become considerably worse. Another result of failure to not have the cutting boards resurfaced is higher machining maintenance as well as knife costs, both being caused by premature wear. In addition, our cutting pads will wear off faster if they are not planed regularly because more thickness has to be taken away as the knives begin to penetrate deeper if the surface is not clean. All of our pads planing operations are performed in house so please contact us today for pricing on resurfacing your cutting pad. Preventative Maintenance Cutting Depth -When using a new cutting board it is very important if the material to be cut is changed or a new type or size of knife is to be used, that the cutting press is readjusted precisely, according to the machines instruction manual. This adjustment should take into account that the cutting depth should not exceed 0.3MM in order to obtain maximum life and durability from the new cutting pad as well as a clear cutting result. Cutting Surface - In order to obtain long life with high quality results it is advisable to cut evenly all over the cutting board including the outer edge or as near to the outer edge as possible. This ensures a flat wear surface prolonging the life of the board. Pad Rotation - Twice as many precise and clean cuts can be made if the MSC cutting pad is rotated on a daily basis. This also prevents warping which is caused by making all the cuts in one small central area. Storage – MSC Cutting pads and boards should be stored flat on a plane surface to prevent warpage-never store them vertical towards a wall.
